Dental Programs


At the Academy of Dental Assisting, our program offers a comprehensive solution as you prepare to become a dental assistant. We have developed two certificate programs, and one diploma program. All classes must be taken in the order listed.

Certificate Programs

Basic Dental Assisting Certificate Program includes the Basic Dental Assisting and the Basic Dental Business courses.

Both courses are taught concurrently over an eight week period.  The Basic Dental Assisting course is taught on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6pm until 9:30pm.  The Basic Dental Business course is taught on Saturdays from 8:30am until 3pm.

Basic Dental Assisting:
An 8-week training course, providing 48 hours of classroom instruction on the necessary techniques--such as taking X-rays--along with a 160-hour externship in a working dental office.

Basic Dental Business Office:
An 8-week training cource, providing 48 hours of classroom instruction along with a 40-hour externship in a working dental office.

Advanced Dental Assisting:
A 14-week training course, providing 48 hours of classroom instruction on the necessary techniques--such as taking X-rays--along with a 160-hour externship in a working dental office.
 

Expanded Duties Dental Assisting (EDDA):
A 6-week training course with 32 hours of classroom instruction with hands-on training on dentoforms.

Diploma Program

The Diploma Program is a 4-month course with an additional 300 hours of externship. It contains all courses included in the Certificate Program, along with the following additional courses:
